The Practice Of Public Relations 11th Edition, Seitel PDF Online ebook Download

The Practice Of Public Relations 11th Edition by Fraser P. Seitel continues the theme of giving readers the knowledge and skills they need to know to be successful in today’s world of public relations –including heavy emphasis on social media and ethics.

Pairing Fraser Seitel’s unique, humorous voice with the most up-to-date case studies, interviews, news photos, and other techniques, the Practice of Public Relations is truly an “in-your-face” Public Relations textbook.

The Practice Of Public Relations 11th Edition, now full-color and streamlined, is designed to carry public relations into the year 2000. It emphasizes the practical nature of public relations work. Full chapters are now devoted to video, integrated marketing communications, and multi-cultural communications. Over half of the interviews with public relations professionals are new and there is one "A Question of Ethics" case problem per chapter.

Seitel is meticulous in his notations, all case studies are very current (within the last 5 years), and questions emphasize the basic material but provide food for thought. The additional references and book reviews alone are worth the price of The Practice Of Public Relations 11th Edition book.

Statistics For The Behavioral Sciences 9th Edition, Gravetter PDF ebook Download

The goal of Statistics For The Behavioral Sciences 9th Edition by Frederick J Gravetter, Larry B. Wallnau is to not only teach the methods of statistics, but also to convey the basic principles of objectivity and logic that are essential for science and valuable in everyday life. Authors Frederick Gravetter and Larry Wallnau help students understand statistical procedures through a conceptual context that explains why the procedures were developed and when they should be used. Students have numerous opportunities to practice statistical techniques through learning checks, examples, step-by-step demonstrations, and problems.

This Statistics For The Behavioral Sciences 9th Edition is great book for learning statistics. The best I've seen so far. Statistics is a subject I hate, but this book has given me hope. I know use it as a supplement for other textbooks. It was a book that was written with the student in mind. I am in a class with an awful stats book now, Statistical Methods for Psychology. But, the Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences text will be a permanent fixture on my shelf and I recommend it often.

I will continue to look for Statistics For The Behavioral Sciences 9th Edition textbook written by these guys. Thanks, you made one of my semesters much better.

Public Policy Politics, Analysis, and Alternatives 4th Edition PDF ebook Online Download

Public Policy: Politics, Analysis, and Alternatives 4th Edition by Michael E Kraft, Scott R. Furlong text need to give a thorough explanation of the policy process, but why do so many relegate policy analysis to a single, final chapter or not cover it at all? In the third edition of their innovative text, Kraft and Furlong take a decidedly different tack. They introduce and integrate an evaluative approach to policy throughout their text, encouraging critical and creative thinking on issues ranging from economic policy and the financial bailout to homeland security and natural disasters.

" Public Policy: Politics, Analysis, and Alternatives 4th Edition " starts with a concise review of institutions, policy actors, and major theoretical models. The authors then discuss the nature of policy analysis and its practice, and show students how to employ evaluative criteria in six substantive policy areas. "Public Policy" arms students with analytic tools they need to understand the motivations of policy actors-both within and outside of government-influence a complex, yet comprehensible, policy agenda. Enhancements to the 4th edition: all chapters have been comprehensively updated to include recent events, issues, and policy debates including the conduct of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the use of private contractors for military support and operations, the rising cost of gasoline and disputes over energy policy and climate change, the controversy over immigration policy, requirements for financial regulation, heightened concerns over economic and social inequality, and the clash over reforming taxes and entitlement programs, as well as dealing with the federal deficit and national debt; new and updated "working with sources" and "steps to analysis" features that help students to investigate sources of information and apply evaluative criteria; and, new and updated end-of chapter discussion questions, suggested readings, and web sites.

Public Policy: Politics, Analysis, and Alternatives 4th Edition emphasis on policy analysis is unique and encourages students to begin thinking as analysts. In a subtle way, it shifts the burden of evaluation to students and encourages them to become more active in the course. I also found the accompanying web site very helpful, most notably the online exercises which require the students to get involved in the issues in ways that a standard lecture format do not allow.

Leading Minds An Anatomy Of Leadership, Gardner PDF Review ebook Download

It Leading Minds: An Anatomy Of Leadership by Howard E. Gardner, Emma Laskin  is a book that is not only valuable for the way it treats its core theme. It also provides an immensely fertile starting point for thinking about related issues of change. I first read it during a period in which I was intensely engaged in promoting cultural change in a large organisation and was able to relate very directly to Gardner's analysis and find direct value in his prescriptions.

Brilliant! Howard Gardner and Emma Laskins' Leading Minds: An Anatomy Of Leadership is simply Brilliant! Their rigorous analysis of Leadership and wonderful case studies of several contemporary leaders is enthralling. One, if not the, most interesting and insightful investigations into the topic of Leadership.

Buy this Leading Minds: An Anatomy Of Leadership Book! Treat yourself and explore this fascinating topic of Leadership. I would also strongly recommend two other books by Howard Gardner.

Understanding American Government 13th Edition, Welch PDF ebook Download

Understanding American Government 13th Edition by Susan Welch, John Gruhl, Susan M. Rigdon, Sue Thomas is highly respected and trusted for its attention to research and issues of diversity, as well as for its award-winning team of authors. While covering the foundations and features of American government, this text also moves beyond the nuts and bolts to explain why and how important features of government have evolved, their impact on government and individuals, and why these features are controversial (if they are) and worth learning.

More than just narrating facts and current issues, Understanding American Government 13th Edition leaves students with an understanding of the "why", so their knowledge can be applied long after the course is completed. UNDERSTANDING AMERICAN GOVERNMENT is a three-time winner of the American Government Textbook Award for the Best Treatment of Women in Politics, by the Women's Caucus for Political Science.

I took a course in which the teacher used this manuel and I found it really helpful pretty much everything is in there: basic principles of the political system with a lot of history (which is really interesting because that helps you to understand and remember what you learned: put things in context) The Understanding American Government 13th Edition book is divided in about 15 chapters, each of them on a particular aspect: american society, federalism, justice system, elections, etc.

With a wide variety of genres, authors, subjects, and styles, The Norton Reader An Anthology of Nonfiction 13th Edition by Linda H. Fifty-four new essays maintain the Reader's long-standing balance of classic and contemporary, canonical and lesser-known selections. The Eleventh Edition also includes important new coverage of visual and spoken texts—over fifty photographs, paintings, drawings, and other images that were originally published with the essays, as well as a new prose form chapter on the spoken word.

Available in this Shorter Edition, with fourteen thematic chapters, The Norton Reader An Anthology of Nonfiction 13th Edition has been carefully designed to support a wide range of teaching styles and situations.

We were contacted by the seller letting us know they shipped it and they were very courteous regarding the fact that I needed it expedited and took it into consideration in the e-mail. Felt very personalized. Great place to buy from and I will make it a point to purchase from them again. As for the book.. it's a daunting looking book but not as horrid as far as appearances go.

The Norton Reader An Anthology of Nonfiction 13th Edition is a big book. When I first saw it I was a bit scared of it. But the stories are wonderful and worth the read. Do not try to read it all in one shot but take time to appreciate the stories. The book came new, and now sits in my book shelf a bit worn out after a year of flipping through it's pages and annotating. It came on time and with no issues.

The End of Money and The Future of Civilization PDF Download ebook

The End of Money and the Future of Civilization by Thomas H. Greco Jr. demystifies the subjects of money, banking, and finance by tracing historical landmarks and important evolutionary shifts that have changed the essential nature of money. Greco's masterful work lays out the problems and then looks to the future for a next stage in money's evolution that can liberate us as individuals and communities from the current grip of centralized and politicized money power.

Greco provides specific design proposals and exchange-system architectures for local, regional, national, and global financial systems. He offers strategies for their implementation and outlines actions grassroots organizations, businesses, and governments will need to take to achieve success.

Ultimately, The End of Money and the Future of Civilization provides the necessary understanding-- for entrepreneurs, activists, and civic leaders--to implement approaches toward monetary liberation. These approaches would empower communities, preserve democratic institutions, and begin to build economies that are sustainable, democratic, and insulated from the financial crises that plague the dominant monetary system.

The End of Money and the Future of Civilization book could have a profound positive impact on local and eventually global economies. It is definitely worth the effort to read through it, if nothing more to better understand our financial system and its weaknesses in order to garner support for a more equitable and secure financial system.

Religion in Human Evolution, Robert N. Bellah PDF ebook Download

Religion in Human Evolution: From the Paleolithic to the Axial Age by Robert N. Bellah is a work of extraordinary ambition—a wide-ranging, nuanced probing of our biological past to discover the kinds of lives that human beings have most often imagined were worth living. It offers what is frequently seen as a forbidden theory of the origin of religion that goes deep into evolution, especially but not exclusively cultural evolution.

How did our early ancestors transcend the quotidian demands of everyday existence to embrace an alternative reality that called into question the very meaning of their daily struggle? Robert Bellah, one of the leading sociologists of our time, identifies a range of cultural capacities, such as communal dancing, storytelling, and theorizing, whose emergence made this religious development possible. Deploying the latest findings in biology, cognitive science, and evolutionary psychology, he traces the expansion of these cultural capacities from the Paleolithic to the Axial Age (roughly, the first millennium BCE), when individuals and groups in the Old World challenged the norms and beliefs of class societies ruled by kings and aristocracies. These religious prophets and renouncers never succeeded in founding their alternative utopias, but they left a heritage of criticism that would not be quenched.

Bellah’s treatment of the four great civilizations of the Axial Age—in ancient Israel, Greece, China, and India—shows all existing religions, both prophetic and mystic, to be rooted in the evolutionary story he tells. Religion in Human Evolution answers the call for a critical history of religion grounded in the full range of human constraints and possibilities.

The Empathic Civilization PDF epub Download Review

The Empathic Civilization: The Race to Global Consciousness in a World in Crisis by Jeremy Rifkin is a serious book. It's well researched, well thought out and articulates the author's thoughts clearly in easy to read fashion. The question Jared Diamond asked, " What did the people on Easter Island think as they cut down the last tree?" resonates throughout this book, but we're not discussing an isolated island, but the future of at least the developed world and maybe mankind. Unlike many pundits and politicians, Mr Rifkin first delves deeply and broadly into underlying assumptions, historical context, and cultural issues, which while seeming maybe extraneous are the very essence from which we must fashion the future.

Businesses, organizations and civilizations fail mainly because they continue to operate on assumptions which a no longer valid...things have changed. The Empathic Civilization case is strong that we are at one of those massive inflection points in history where old assumptions are no longer holding true. With the pending sunset of the " second industrial revolution", Mr Rifkin then posits the framework for a "Third Industrial Revolution" which is as remarkably different from today's centralized carbon powered society, as is the IPhone, Amazon, internet world from the mom and pop grocery stores and wire based telephones of our parents.

The Empathic Civilization is a compelling vision and is one which potentially puts mankind on a positive course for the future, taking "the world is flat" to it's logical conclusion with a highly distributed, more equitable form of capitalism, as opposed to the punitive, fine based approach we have so recently seen in evidence in Copenhagen.

Economic Origins of Dictatorship and Democracy Download PDF ebook Review

What forces lead to democracy's creation? Why does it sometimes consolidate only to collapse at other times? Economic Origins of Dictatorship and Democracy by Daron Acemoglu, James A. Robinson, two of the foremost authorities on this subject in the world, this volume develops a framework for analyzing the creation and consolidation of democracy. It revolutionizes scholarship on the factors underlying government and popular movements toward democracy or dictatorship.

Daron Acemoglu and James Robinson argue that different social groups prefer different political institutions because of the way they allocate political power and resources. Their Economic Origins of Dictatorship and Democracy book, the subject of a four-day seminar at Harvard's Center for Basic Research in the Social Sciences, was also the basis for the Walras-Bowley lecture at the joint meetings of the European Economic Association and Econometric Society in 2003 and is the winner of the John Bates Clark Medal.

Daron Acemoglu is Charles P. Kindleberger Professor of Applied Economics at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received the 2005 John Bates Clark Medal awarded by the American Economic Association as the best economist working in the United States under age 40. He is the author Economic Origins of Dictatorship and Democracy of the forthcoming text Introduction to Modern Economic Growth. James A. Robinson is Professor of Government at Harvard University.

He is a Harvard Faculty Associate at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and a member of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research's Program on Institutions, Organizations, and Growth. He is coeditor with Jared Diamond of the forthcoming book Natural Experiments in History.

Democracy and Its Critics, Dahl Summary PDF ebook

In this Democracy and Its Critics by Robert A. Dahl book, one of the most prominent political theorists of our era makes a statement about what democracy is and why it is important. Robert Dahl examines the most basic assumptions of democratic theory, tests them against the questions raised by its critics, and recasts the theory of democracy in a new and coherent whole. He concludes by discussing the directions in which democracy must move if advanced democratic states are to exist in the future.

Dahl created a bunch of dialogues that clearly illustrate specific problems with anarchism and elitism. Then, he discussed democracy and his hopes for the future. He's a fine writer and thinker who deserves more attention from non-academics.

Democracy and Its Critics is an excelent book on political theory and also one of the best defenses of democracy as a political system I have ever read. Specially good it its chapter on "guardinship", contradicting the most common arguments in favor of different "tutors" of the people.

Democracy and Its Critics is a highly readable summary of Dahl's earlier work. Non-academics will find his use of dialogue easily accessible. Perhaps it's greatest success is the way that it thoughtfully approaches the basic premises of democracy, foundational principles all too-often glossed over in democratic literature.

Cracking The Ap World History Exam 2013 Edition PDF ebook Download

I bought the 2012 version of this Cracking The Ap World History Exam 2013 Edition (College Test Preparation) by Princeton Review  book, and it is such a good book. Before every chapter test, I'd read the chapter summaries. They have great timelines too. You can't expect to do well without doing well in the course. If you got a B or A in the course and you use this book throughout the year and for last minute studing for the exam you'll get a 5. I got a C first quarter because I wasn't determined. Second quarter I started using this book and I got a B. Third quarter an A, and fourth quarter a 100% in the class A. Ended up with a 5 on the exam. This goes to show that paying attention in class, reading the Cracking The Ap World History Exam 2013 and using this book will help you get far. DON'T GIVE UP if you think it's too hard, thats what I thought but I got a five so I know you can do it too!

Love this book! I love how this book provides you information on how you could prepare for the test. And, Mr. Christianson, this book is meant to be supplemental and a way to review for the test, not to have tests with.

Cracking The Ap World History Exam 2013  book is very readable compared to the monotonous feeling of other review books for world history. However, while their 2012 edition had 4 answer choices per question to reflect the change in the exam (a-d), this book reverts back to the A-E choices, which makes no sense. Also, the questions aren't really an accurate representation of the questions on the exam. But the review section is good.

A History of Civilizations, Fernand Braudel PDF ebook Review Download

A History of Civilizations by Fernand Braudel, Richard Mayne book contains much that is prescient and insightful. Consider, on China: "In 1945, she was unable to make a motor-scooter by 1963 she was on the brink of producing an atomic bomb." And what would he say now? On the concentration of power in the elites, consider his quote from Lenin: "If Tsarism could last for centuries thanks to 130,000 aristocratic feudal landowners with police powers in their regions, why should I not be able to hold out for a few decades with a party of 130,000 devoted militants?" (And indeed Lenin did!, before joining that proverbial dustbin).

Braudel also covers A History of Civilizations why the world speaks English and not French, largely due to the fact that the English were sending out in the mid-18th Century a million colonists compared to 70,000 for the French,  since the latter had fears of becoming depopulated. And he gave a wonderful nod to one of my favorite cities, Avignon.

The A History of Civilizations author's arguments on historical trends are cogent his brush is broad, and the read enjoyable. He anticipated the "butterfly theory," without the name (the flapping of the wings of a proverbial butterfly in China might contribute to a tornado in Kansas). He did so by also referencing China, and spoke of the spread of the Chinese fashions of the T'ang period eventually reaching France, and the court of Charles VI "... the heritage of a long vanished world-much as light still reaches us from stars already extinct."

A Guided Tour of Five Works by Plato 3rd Edition PDF Summary Download

Christopher Biffle's A Guided Tour of Five Works by Plato 3rd Edition is an ideal introduction to the study of philosophy as an academic activity. While there are several introductory philosophy books that allow the reader to wander and ponder through the dreamy early stages of philosophical wonder, this book gets down to business. Biffle structures his guided tour as an interactive reader of five of Plato's most important and most accessible dialogues: Euthyphro, Apology and Crito complete; the "Death Scene" from Phaedo, and the "Allegory of the Cave" from Republic.

Through this tour students will have an opportunity to actively engage in philosophy as they move through the text. Biffle prepares the reader for the journey by providing just enough background about Socrates,Plato and the history of Athens to satisfy a rudimentary curiosity. As the A Guided Tour of Five Works by Plato
3rd Edition reader embarks, he will begin to encounter some of the features which make Biffle's book so valuable. This tour is an adventure in thinking, and the reader is challenged to summarize and extract important developments as the tour progresses. The reader is asked to respond to prompts such as "The main things I want to remember about Socrates and the history of Athens are..." Thus the reader himself becomes a participant in the dialogue.

From this A Guided Tour of Five Works by Plato
3rd Edition introduction Biffle guides us into the dialogues themselves, beginning with Euthyphro. Each selection is introduced with a series of questions designed to open up the reader's mind to some of the ideas and issues to be explored in the dialogues themselves. During the reading of the dialogue, the reader is asked to underline and annotate the text as he goes thus the reader becomes actively and critically engaged in the text rather than passively drifting through it. By clarifying and analyzing Plato, the student begins to clarify and analyze his own thinking. This approach to philosophy is also an ideal approach to developing reading, writing and critical thinking skills for students.
