Cracking The Ap World History Exam 2013 Edition PDF ebook Download

I bought the 2012 version of this Cracking The Ap World History Exam 2013 Edition (College Test Preparation) by Princeton Review  book, and it is such a good book. Before every chapter test, I'd read the chapter summaries. They have great timelines too. You can't expect to do well without doing well in the course. If you got a B or A in the course and you use this book throughout the year and for last minute studing for the exam you'll get a 5. I got a C first quarter because I wasn't determined. Second quarter I started using this book and I got a B. Third quarter an A, and fourth quarter a 100% in the class A. Ended up with a 5 on the exam. This goes to show that paying attention in class, reading the Cracking The Ap World History Exam 2013 and using this book will help you get far. DON'T GIVE UP if you think it's too hard, thats what I thought but I got a five so I know you can do it too!

Love this book! I love how this book provides you information on how you could prepare for the test. And, Mr. Christianson, this book is meant to be supplemental and a way to review for the test, not to have tests with.

Cracking The Ap World History Exam 2013  book is very readable compared to the monotonous feeling of other review books for world history. However, while their 2012 edition had 4 answer choices per question to reflect the change in the exam (a-d), this book reverts back to the A-E choices, which makes no sense. Also, the questions aren't really an accurate representation of the questions on the exam. But the review section is good.

A History of Civilizations, Fernand Braudel PDF ebook Review Download

A History of Civilizations by Fernand Braudel, Richard Mayne book contains much that is prescient and insightful. Consider, on China: "In 1945, she was unable to make a motor-scooter by 1963 she was on the brink of producing an atomic bomb." And what would he say now? On the concentration of power in the elites, consider his quote from Lenin: "If Tsarism could last for centuries thanks to 130,000 aristocratic feudal landowners with police powers in their regions, why should I not be able to hold out for a few decades with a party of 130,000 devoted militants?" (And indeed Lenin did!, before joining that proverbial dustbin).

Braudel also covers A History of Civilizations why the world speaks English and not French, largely due to the fact that the English were sending out in the mid-18th Century a million colonists compared to 70,000 for the French,  since the latter had fears of becoming depopulated. And he gave a wonderful nod to one of my favorite cities, Avignon.

The A History of Civilizations author's arguments on historical trends are cogent his brush is broad, and the read enjoyable. He anticipated the "butterfly theory," without the name (the flapping of the wings of a proverbial butterfly in China might contribute to a tornado in Kansas). He did so by also referencing China, and spoke of the spread of the Chinese fashions of the T'ang period eventually reaching France, and the court of Charles VI "... the heritage of a long vanished world-much as light still reaches us from stars already extinct."

Created Equal A History Of The United States 3rd edition PDF Download Ebook

With its inclusive view of American history, Created Equal A History Of The United States Brief 3rd edition, (Volume 2) emphasizes social history–including the lives, labors, and legacies of women, immigrants, working people, and minorities in all regions of the country–while delivering the fundamental elements of political and economic history.

In the new edition of Created Equal A History Of The United States 3rd edition, the authors have preserved the chronological framework and strong narrative thread, the engaging and illuminating stories of everyday people and events, and the Interpreting History features of the previous edition, but have sharpened the presentation, prose, and pedagogy by incorporating additional examples and end of chapter review material.

I had to buy this Created Equal A History Of The United States 3rd edition book for my college history class and I can definitely say that I normally do not like history. But, this book is very interesting and has some great content. It is very easy to read and it very informative. If you're looking for an easy to read history book after the Civil War, this is the one!

They Thought They Were Free The Germans, 1933-45 PDF Ebook

Among the many books written on Germany after the collapse of Hitler's Thousand Year Reich, this They Thought They Were Free: The Germans, 1933-45  book by Milton Mayer is one of the most readable and most enlightening.

It is a fascinating story and a deeply moving one. And it is a story that should make people pause and think—think not only about the Germans, but also about themselves

Writing as a liberal American journalist of German descent and Jewish religious persuasion Mr. Mayer aims—and in the opinion of this reviewer largely succeeds—at scrupulous fairness and unsparing honesty. It is this that gives his book its muscular punch.

Once again the German problem is at the center of our politics. No better, or more humane, or more literate discussion of its underlying nature could be had than in this They Thought They Were Free: The Germans, 1933-45 book.

Mayer was a conscientious objector during World War II but after the war traveled to Germany and lived with German families. Those experiences informed his most influential book They Thought They Were Free: The Germans, 1933-45.

About the Author:

Milton Sanford Mayer (1908-1986) was a journalist and educator. He was the author of about a dozen books.

He studied at the University of Chicago from 1925 to 1928 but he did not earn a degree; in 1942 he told the Saturday Evening Post that he was "placed on permanent probation for throwing beer bottles out a dormitory window." He was a reporter for the Associated Press, the Chicago Evening Post, and the Chicago Evening American. He wrote a monthly column in the Progressive for over forty years. He won the George Polk Memorial Award and the Benjamin Franklin Citation for Journalism.

He worked for the University of Chicago in its public relations office and lectured in its Great Books Program. He also taught at the University of Massachusetts, Hampshire College, and the University of Louisville. He was an adviser to Robert M. Hutchins when Hutchins founded the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions.
